My husband Darren has this quirky, slightly ridiculous idea about totally revamping the QWERTY keyboard. He INSISTS it's the 'wave of the future'. I will attempt to explain his idea here (as I don't totally understand it myself). I truly don't even understand the need for such restructuring, but he is ardent that this will/should happen one day and will revolutionize typing as we know it.
So here is what I understand...he believes that the current spacing of the keys is very inefficient. He submits that the keyboard should be 'upgraded' to a flat, glass screen. Wherever on this screen you place your fingers, the computer/keyboard would recognize as the 'home row'. The standard spacing of the keys would no longer apply as the computer/keyboard would 'learn' how you type and over time you would be able to make smaller and smaller movements as the computer learns to recognize your typing style. Not only that, but the whole surface of what is now known as the keyboard location on a laptop would be this glass screen. It would be used not only as a keyboard, but as a total information input/interaction device for the computer. (Huh??)
Again, I do not understand the need for such technology. However, ladies and gentlemen, you heard it here first! When you see this new development take shape in the near/distant future, you can say it's not new to you. You read about it years ago in a blog named, 'A Provincial Life'.
Here's to the future...

Great idea. I think he should sell the idea to Microsoft, oh I mean Apple, I'm sure he doesn't want it to freeze up.
